Protecting Property Owners

Swearing in

Rashelle has taken an oath to protect property owners.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 10, 2020

(Salt Lake City, Utah) Rashelle Hobbs, Salt Lake County Recorder, is warning county property owners to be aware of a solicitation being mailed to county property owners recommending that “all homeowners obtain a copy of their Property Assessment Profile” for a $95 fee (please see attached RECORDED DEED NOTICE).

Hobbs said, “Property owners do not need to pay a private company $95 for their public property information. The information they are selling in this notice is available through my office, the Salt Lake County Recorder, for a nominal fee, as well as the Assessor’s Office and the County Treasurer’s Office.”

All official property records are on file in the Recorder’s Office. According to the County Recorder, “Although this notice looks official, we cannot attest to the validity of the information property owners are receiving from these private companies. I am aware of property owners who have come to the county thinking they are required to pay this $95 fee. I want to assure the public this fee is NOT a required a government fee.”

If you receive anything in the mail regarding property you own and have questions, please contact the Recorder’s Office at (385) 468-8145 or visit the Recorder’s Office at 2001 South State Street, N1-600.
